For fact checkers and editors
Every claim, citation and link, checked against its source.
Next Being built. Fact Verification is not issued yet.
Fact Verification will read any document, check each claim, reference, DOI and link against its source, and mark anything it cannot check as unverifiable. The person who signs off the document will see what holds up and what does not.
We reply by email and say plainly where it stands.
01What it will do
What it will check in any document.
This is what Fact Verification is being built to do. None of it is issued yet.
- Claims
- Each factual claim compared with the source it cites.
- References and DOIs
- Each reference and DOI looked up to confirm it exists and matches what is cited.
- Links
- Each URL opened to confirm it works and says what the document claims.
- What cannot be checked
- Marked unverifiable, not guessed.
What the record will contain
- A claim-by-claim verification table
- Reference and DOI checks
- Link checks
- Anything that cannot be checked, marked unverifiable
- A signature and timestamp
02Why it matters
AI writes sources that look real and do not exist.
Generative AI produces fluent text with references, quotations and links that read as genuine. Courts worldwide have identified more than 2,100 decisions where a party relied on AI-fabricated material, and one publisher retracted 11,300 papers. Whoever signs off a document now has to check every source in it, and cannot do that by hand.

04Questions
The questions we are asked first.
- Can I use Fact Verification today?
- No. It is Next: it is being built and no record is issued yet, so there is no account to sign in to. Join the pilot list and we will tell you when it opens.
- What will it do with something it cannot check?
- Mark it unverifiable. It will not guess.
- Is this a detector?
- No. It does not guess whether a document was written with AI. It is being built to check each claim and source against where it came from.
